Hello fellow literary nerds! I guess this is where I introduce myself and what this is all about. My name is David. I went to school for too long to get a degree that I might not even use. I got my undergrad in Secondary Education with a focus in English. I wanted to believe that I could change the world through books. That I could some how use novels to shape the minds of the youth of today. I still hold onto that hope, but have since realized that the current state of our education system here in America does not allow for that to happen in any meaningful way.
While in school I discovered a deep seeded love for over analyzing everything. Literally everything. If there media that is written, spoken, or even visual I will be there to attempt to break it down. I will even go as far as bringing in other media to compare and contrast it to. Modern media is where I love to deep dive, comparing it to possible inspirations that came before it, finding the common threads that are woven through everything that we consume on a daily basis is an everyday activity for me. This is the type of content that you, as the reader, might expect to see on the site.
The content on this page will range from "click-baity" articles, restructured papers that I wrote while in university, and original content that I will generate for this page specifically. I am interested in exploring a wide range of content and styles for this page since the original concept was for it to be a homepage for a podcast that I wanted to produce. This podcast is still in the works and will hopefully be on the way shortly.
In addition, I some of the topics that I would like to write and discuss range from educational to more fun and wacky. As mentioned before I believe that through reading literature, modern and ancient, we can begin to better understand the world around us and how it works. We can start to better understand each other and different point of views. I wish to use this medium as a way to start that adventure. There will be a lot of mistakes and failures but we should be judged not on our mistakes but how we react to them. I would also love to be able to bring on different voices other than my own to the table since I am a white, straight, male. I have benefited from my inherit privilege in various ways that might not be obvious to be and others that are more obvious, but I am here to learn and grow. If this ends up becoming bigger than I am than hopefully I can have this as a space to amplify voices and ideas. As not to drone on any longer, I hope that you will stick around for future content.
Thank you for reading! Till next time.
